If you are entering The Canyon at Santa Monica, you are taking one of the most courageous steps of your life. It has been said by many that “change is hard.” Yet, you have committed to doing what is necessary to change the current trajectory of your life, and you are here to support yourself in achieving this goal.

Our primary goal is to promote the education and recovery of individuals with dual diagnoses. The staff will work with you as you begin or continue the recovery process. We emphasize healing the whole person through the opportunity for life-altering personal discovery and individual growth.

You will find that our environment is one of support, compassion, nurturing structure, and choices. We have built a comprehensive network of community resources, individual sessions, therapeutic groups, recovery meetings, holistic care, and recreation to assist you in establishing a healthy routine for your life in recovery. As a member of our program, we want you to get what you need from treatment. If you have any questions or concerns, please bring them up with our staff. Our primary focus is on you, your family, and your recovery.

Our program is built on four key concepts:

• Uniqueness – Every person is unique and arrives in their own stage of “readiness” for change. Once we get to know you, we will create your program based on your readiness.
• Flexibility – Our program is flexible, not forcing you into a box but creating a program around you.
• Customized individual-centered treatment – The Canyon values the evidence-based and proven recovery techniques offered by all top addiction care providers. You will receive dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. Every one of these practices is backed by the most up-to-date addiction recovery science and studies.
• A multidisciplinary treatment team – Our research and experience has shown that the team approach provides comprehensive, integrated services and the best possible care. Your care manager works with a treatment team and discusses your progress in the program and any issues that relate to your health, well-being, and recovery.

Our program is designed to provide a continuum of care for those diagnosed with substance use disorder and mental illness who are motivated for recovery.
